Details
A vulnerability was found in Django up to 5.2.13/6.0.4. It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is an unknown function. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a length parameter vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-130. The product parses a formatted message or structure, but it does not handle or incorrectly handles a length field that is inconsistent with the actual length of the associated data. Impacted is availability. CVE summarizes:
An issue was discovered in 6.0 before 6.0.5 and 5.2 before 5.2.14. ASGI requests with a missing or understated `Content-Length` header can bypass the `FILE_UPLOAD_MAX_MEMORY_SIZE` limit, potentially loading large files into memory and causing service degradation. As a reminder, Django expects a limit to be configured at the web server level rather than solely relying on `FILE_UPLOAD_MAX_MEMORY_SIZE`. Earlier, unsupported Django series (such as 5.0.x, 4.1.x, and 3.2.x) were not evaluated and may also be affected. Django would like to thank Kyle Agronick for reporting this issue.
The advisory is available at docs.djangoproject.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-5766 since 04/07/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 05/11/2026).
