Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.18.18/6.19.8. Affected by this issue is the function remove. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a double free vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-415. The product calls free() twice on the same memory address, potentially leading to modification of unexpected memory locations. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: spi: rockchip-sfc: Fix double-free in remove() callback The driver uses devm_spi_register_controller() for registration, which automatically unregisters the controller via devm cleanup when the device is removed. The manual call to spi_unregister_controller() in the remove() callback can lead to a double-free. And to make sure controller is unregistered before DMA buffer is unmapped, switch to use spi_register_controller() in probe().
The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-43460 since 05/01/2026. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 05/21/2026).
