Details
A vulnerability was found in GeyserMC Geyser up to 2.9.2 and classified as critical. This issue affects an unknown code block of the file /give of the component Bedrock Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a server-side request forgery vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-918. The web server receives a URL or similar request from an upstream component and retrieves the contents of this URL, but it does not sufficiently ensure that the request is being sent to the expected destination. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Geyser is a bridge between Minecraft: Bedrock Edition and Minecraft: Java Edition. Prior to 2.9.3, a server-side request forgery (SSRF) vulnerability exists in Geyser’s handling of Bedrock player head texture data. By supplying a crafted Base64-encoded skin texture URL via the /give command, an attacker can cause the Minecraft server to issue arbitrary HTTP GET requests to attacker-controlled or internal endpoints. This occurs server-side, without proper URL validation, and can be triggered by a Bedrock client. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.9.3.
The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-42188 since 04/25/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. The exploitation requires an enhanced level of successful authentication. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
