A vulnerability was found in Apache Airflow CNCF Kubernetes Provider up to 10.16.x and classified as critical. This issue affects an unknown function of the component JWT Token Handler. JWT tokens that were used by workers in Kubernetes Executors have been exposed to users who had read only access to Kuberentes Pods. This could allow users with just read-only access to perform actions that were only available to running tasks via Task SDK and potentially allow to modify state of Airflow Database for tasks.

The weakness was released by Nikolai Dvoinishnikov, Welltory, Anton Kuznetsov and Welltory. The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-27173 since 02/18/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely.
