An attack on the physical device is feasible. There is not any exploit available. It is suggested to upgrade the affected component.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Ledger Nano X, Flex and Stax up to 2.4.1. Affected is an unknown code of the component MCU Firmware Update Handler. The manipulation of the argument reset_handler with an unknown input leads to a improper validation of specified quantity in input vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-1284. The product receives input that is expected to specify a quantity (such as size or length), but it does not validate or incorrectly validates that the quantity has the required properties. This is going to have an impact on availability. CVE summarizes:

Ledger Nano X, Flex, and Stax devices contain a denial of service vulnerability in the MCU firmware update process due to missing validation of the reset_handler parameter during firmware flashing. An attacker can provide a crafted reset_handler address pointing to invalid memory or attacker-controlled code to cause the device to enter an unrecoverable fault state during boot, resulting in permanent loss of operability.

The weakness was released by Guanxing Wen. The advisory is available at ledger.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2025-15645 since 05/19/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.

Upgrading to version 2.4.2 eliminates this vulnerability.
