Details
A vulnerability was found in XCharge C6. It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown function of the component Charging Interface. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a stack-based overflow vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-121. A stack-based buffer overflow condition is a condition where the buffer being overwritten is allocated on the stack (i.e., is a local variable or, rarely, a parameter to a function). Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
A stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the charging controller’s signal-processing logic allows an attacker with physical access to the charging interface to supply message fields that exceed expected bounds. Because the input is not sufficiently validated, memory corruption may occur, which can lead to execution of unauthorized code with elevated privileges.
The weakness was shared by Lionel R. Saposnik as icsa-26-148-08. The advisory is shared for download at cisa.gov. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-9038 since 05/19/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack needs to be approached locally. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
Upgrading to version May_22_2026 eliminates this vulnerability.
