A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, has been found in Apple QuickTime 7.1.2 (Multimedia Player Software). This issue affects an unknown part of the component Sample Table. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a heap-based overflow vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-122. A heap overflow condition is a buffer overflow, where the buffer that can be overwritten is allocated in the heap portion of memory, generally meaning that the buffer was allocated using a routine such as malloc(). Heap-based buffer overflow in Apple QuickTime before 7.1.3 allows user-assisted remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted Sample Table Sample Descriptor (STSD) atom size in a QuickTime movie.
