A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Mozilla Firefox (Web Browser). This vulnerability affects an unknown function of the component Javascript Garbage Collector. The JavaScript engine in Mozilla Firefox before 2.0.0.14, Thunderbird before 2.0.0.14, and SeaMonkey before 1.1.10 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (garbage collector crash) and possibly have other impacts via a crafted web page. NOTE: this is due to an incorrect fix for CVE-2008-1237.
The weakness was disclosed 04/17/2008 with US-CERT as MFSA2008-20 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at mozilla.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2008-1380 since 03/18/2008. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k.
