A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Apple QuickTime 7.4.5 (Multimedia Player Software). Affected by this issue is an unknown code of the component Indea Video Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Stack-based buffer overflow in Indeo.qtx in Apple QuickTime before 7.5 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) or execute arbitrary code via crafted Indeo video codec content in a movie file.

The bug was discovered 06/10/2008. The weakness was presented 06/10/2008 by TippingPoint with ZDI as HT1991 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at support.apple.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2008-1584 since 03/31/2008. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
