A vulnerability was found in VITEC Flamingo 4.12.2 and classified as very critical. Affected by this issue is the function escapeshellarg/shell_exec of the file admin/ajax/ping.php of the component Admin AJAX Endpoint. The manipulation of the argument host with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Vitec Flamingo 4.12.2 contains an unauthenticated OS command injection vulnerability in the admin/ajax/ping.php endpoint that allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands by exploiting a double-evaluation flaw in shell argument handling. The endpoint applies escapeshellarg() to the user-supplied host POST parameter before passing it to a system wrapper, but the wrapper retrieves the decoded value from argv and incorporates it into a second shell_exec() call without escaping, allowing injected commands to execute with root privileges via passwordless sudo.
