arclib.dll before 7.3.0.9 in CA Anti-Virus (formerly eTrust Antivirus) 8 and certain other CA products allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (infinite loop and loss of antivirus functionality) via an invalid "previous listing chunk number" field in a CHM file.
The weakness was published 07/25/2007 by Sergio Alvarez with n.runs AG (Website). The advisory is shared at labs.idefense.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2007-3875 since 07/18/2007. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
It is declared as proof-of-concept.
