A vulnerability was found in Apple WebCore 10.3.9. It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects an unknown code block. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. WebCore on Apple Mac OS X 10.3.9 and 10.4.10 retains properties of certain global objects when a new URL is visited in the same window, which allows remote attackers to conduct cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks.
The bug was discovered 07/31/2007. The weakness was released 08/03/2007 by DiGiT with Secunia Research (Website). The advisory is shared at lists.apple.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2007-2410 since 04/30/2007. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
