WebKit in Apple Safari 3 Beta before Update 3.0.3, and iPhone before 1.0.1, does not properly handle the interaction between International Domain Name (IDN) support and Unicode fonts, which allows remote attackers to create a URL containing "look-alike characters" (homographs) and possibly perform phishing attacks.
The bug was discovered 07/30/2007. The weakness was released 08/03/2007 by Robert Swiecki (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2007-3742 since 07/12/2007. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation.
