The IBM Lenovo Access Support acpRunner ActiveX control, as distributed in acpcontroller.dll before 1.2.8.0 and possibly acpir.dll before 1.0.0.9 (Automated Solutions 1.0 before fix pack 1), exposes unsafe methods to arbitrary web domains, which allows remote attackers to download arbitrary code onto a client system and execute this code.

The bug was discovered 08/14/2007. The weakness was published 08/15/2007 by Karl Lynn with Juniper Networks as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared for download at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2007-2929 since 05/30/2007. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 25883 (MS07-045: Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer (937143)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
