CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Paperless-ngx (the affected version unknown). This issue affects the function MailAccountViewSet.test of the component Test Connection. The manipulation of the argument imap_server/imap_port/imap_security with an unknown input leads to a redirect vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-601. A web application accepts a user-controlled input that specifies a link to an external site, and uses that link in a Redirect. This simplifies phishing attacks. Impacted is integrity. The summary by CVE is:

Paperless-ngx's MailAccountViewSet.test() action, when called with an existing account's ID and a masked password field, reuses the stored password, account_type, refresh_token, and expiration from that existing account while allowing the caller to supply a different imap_server, imap_port, and imap_security in the same request. The test connection then authenticates to the caller-specified server using the real stored credentials. A user holding only object-level change_mailaccount permission on the target account (not full admin) can redirect the test connection to an attacker-controlled IMAP host, causing the real stored IMAP password or OAuth token to be sent to that host.

The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-71244 since 08/05/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 08/05/2026). MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1204.001 for this issue.

There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
