Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.6.147/6.12.100/6.18.41/7.1.5/7.2-rc1. Affected is the function vcn_v4_0_enc_find_ib_param of the file drm/amdgpu/vcn4 of the component Vcn4. The manipulation of the argument length with an unknown input leads to a toctou vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-367. The product checks the state of a resource before using that resource, but the resource's state can change between the check and the use in a way that invalidates the results of the check. This can cause the product to perform invalid actions when the resource is in an unexpected state. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdgpu/vcn4: avoid rereading IB param length Reuse the parameter length returned by vcn_v4_0_enc_find_ib_param() instead of rereading it from the IB. This avoids a potential TOCTOU issue if the IB contents change between reads. (cherry picked from commit dbb02b4755f8c1f3773263f2d779872c1c0c073a)
The advisory is shared for download at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-68107 since 07/30/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. The attack needs to be approached locally. Additional levels of successful authentication are needed for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
Upgrading to version 6.6.148, 6.12.101, 6.18.42, 7.1.6 or 7.2-rc2 eliminates this vulnerability.
