Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Enriva Development Magellan Explorer up to 3.32 build2305. This affects an unknown code block. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Directory traversal vulnerability in Enriva Development Magellan Explorer 3.32 build 2305 and earlier allows remote FTP servers to create or overwrite arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in a filename. NOTE: this can be leveraged for code execution by writing to a Startup folder.
The bug was discovered 08/14/2007. The weakness was disclosed 09/06/2007 (Website). The advisory is shared at vupen.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2007-4842 since 09/12/2007.
