Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel (version now known) and classified as very critical. Affected by this issue is the function probe of the component tpm_crb. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tpm_crb: Check ACPI_COMPANION() against NULL during probe Every platform driver can be forced to match a device that doesn't match its list of device IDs because of device_match_driver_override(), so platform drivers that rely on the existence of a device's ACPI companion object need to verify its presence. Accordingly, add a requisite ACPI_COMPANION() check against NULL to the tpm_crb driver.
