A vulnerability was found in Sun JDK and JRE up to 6u2 (Programming Language Software) and classified as critical. Visual truncation vulnerability in the Java Runtime Environment in Sun JDK and JRE 6 Update 2 and earlier, JDK and JRE 5.0 Update 12 and earlier, SDK and JRE 1.4.2_15 and earlier, and SDK and JRE 1.3.1_20 and earlier allows remote attackers to circumvent display of the untrusted-code warning banner by creating a window larger than the workstation screen.
The bug was discovered 10/03/2007. The weakness was released 10/05/2007 by Collin Jackson (Website). The advisory is shared at sunsolve.sun.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2007-5240 since 10/05/2007. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
