(1) xenbaked and (2) xenmon.py in Xen 3.1 and earlier allow local users to truncate arbitrary files via a symlink attack on /tmp/xenq-shm.

The weakness was shared 10/28/2007 by Steve Kemp with Debian (Website). The advisory is available at redhat.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2007-3919 since 07/20/2007. Local access is required to approach this attack. A simple authentication is necessary for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
