A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Apple Mac OS X Server up to 10.5.0 (Operating System). This issue affects the function accept_connections. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a numeric error vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-189. Impacted is availability. The summary by CVE is:
The accept_connections function in the virtual private network daemon (vpnd) in Apple Mac OS X 10.5 before 10.5.4 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (divide-by-zero error and daemon crash) via a crafted load balancing packet to UDP port 4112.
The bug was discovered 12/04/2007. The weakness was released 12/07/2007 with mu-b (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at milw0rm.com.
