CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.108/6.18.49/7.2.3 and classified as very critical. Affected by this vulnerability is the function uvc_function_bind/uvc_function_unbind of the component UVC Gadget Driver. The manipulation of the argument control_req/control_buf with an unknown input leads to a use after free vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-416. Referencing memory after it has been freed can cause a program to crash, use unexpected values, or execute code. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: gadget: uvc: fix dangling pointers in uvc_function_bind() and uvc_function_unbind() In uvc_function_bind() error path, we use usb_ep_free_request which uses uvc->control_req but does not set it to NULL afterwards. Thus, uvc->control_req is a dangling pointer causing a UAF. Also we do not set the uvc->control_buf pointer to NULL after freeing it, which is another dangling pointer. Fix it by setting uvc->control_req to NULL after we run usb_ep_free_request() and uvc->control_buf to NULL after kfree. Do the same for uvc_function_unbind().

It is possible to read the advisory at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-89733 since 09/11/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The pricing for an exploit might be around USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 09/11/2026).

Upgrading to version 6.12.109, 6.18.50, 7.2.4 or 7.3-rc1 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 8e88ed8a374de67270d38689f2a81018909cafbb/9897b7da8c0ad8356c1b8649379fcb5a689462cb/38f822ddce9355893d734279a26ddec45182197e/bdab5605259ba5d6ff927c1a85cc83eb3ecfdacc is able to eliminate this problem. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
