Details
A vulnerability was found in Arista EOS up to 4.36.0.1F. It has been classified as very critical. This affects an unknown code block of the component Certz service/Bootz service. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
A privileged attacker can exploit certain operation to execute arbitrary commands with root privileges, leading to full device compromise. An authenticated user can exploit gRPC Network Security Interface (gNSI) Certz service on Arista EOS-based products to escalate privileges and execute arbitrary OS commands via a crafted Certz Rotate request. The Bootz service is also affected.
The advisory is shared at arista.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-73447 since 08/12/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy.
