Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in MidnightBSD mport up to 2.7.7. This issue affects an unknown code of the component Package Metafiles Extraction. The manipulation of the argument TMPDIR with an unknown input leads to a redirect vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-601. A web application accepts a user-controlled input that specifies a link to an external site, and uses that link in a Redirect. This simplifies phishing attacks. Impacted is integrity. The summary by CVE is:
mport is the MidnightBSD Package Manager. mport before 2.7.8 used TMPDIR while extracting package metafiles, including when running as root or in setuid/setgid contexts. An attacker able to control the environment for a privileged mport invocation could redirect temporary metadata extraction to an attacker-controlled location. PR 123 ignores unsafe TMPDIR values in privileged contexts and rejects empty TMPDIR. This issue has been patched in version 2.7.8.
