Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in hatchet-dev Hatchet up to 0.95.2. This issue affects an unknown code block of the component Stream Handler. The manipulation of the argument task_external_id with an unknown input leads to a access control vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-284. The product does not restrict or incorrectly restricts access to a resource from an unauthorized actor. Impacted is confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:
Hatchet is a platform for orchestrating background tasks, AI agents, and durable workflows at scale. Prior to 0.95.3, the V1 DurableTask stream handler stores worker-supplied task_external_id values in the durableInvocations routing map before tenant ownership is verified, and callback delivery resolves that map by task UUID without tenant identity. An authenticated tenant worker that knows another tenant's durable task UUID and keeps a stream open on the same dispatcher process can receive that task's durable callback result payload. UUIDv4 values are not enumerable, and single-tenant deployments are unaffected in practice. This issue is fixed in version 0.95.3.
The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-84298 since 09/01/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
Upgrading to version 0.95.3 eliminates this vulnerability.
