CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in envoyproxy Envoy up to 1.36.9/1.37.5/1.38.3/1.39.0 and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown function of the component Router. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a improper authorization vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-285. The product does not perform or incorrectly performs an authorization check when an actor attempts to access a resource or perform an action. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

Envoy is an open source edge and service proxy designed for cloud-native applications. Prior to 1.36.10, 1.37.6, 1.38.4, and 1.39.1, When ignore_path_parameters_in_path_matching is enabled, Envoy's router strips the semicolon suffix before matching but the RBAC url_path matcher evaluates the raw path. A downstream request such as /admin;x can therefore miss a DENY rule for /admin while the router still selects the protected /admin backend. The inconsistent canonicalization allows an unauthenticated client to bypass path-based authorization. The relevant scope boundary is that the route option and a path-based RBAC rule must both be present, and the protected route must match after stripping. This issue is fixed in versions 1.36.10, 1.37.6, 1.38.4, and 1.39.1.

The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-73553 since 08/12/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1548.002 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

Upgrading to version 1.36.10, 1.37.6, 1.38.4 or 1.39.1 eliminates this vulnerability.
