Details
A vulnerability was found in Lantronix EMG7500, EMG8500, SLB882 and SLC8000 (version now known). It has been classified as problematic. Affected is some unknown processing of the component WebSSH WebTelnet listener. The manipulation of the argument rooturl with an unknown input leads to a server-side request forgery vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-918. The web server receives a URL or similar request from an upstream component and retrieves the contents of this URL, but it does not sufficiently ensure that the request is being sent to the expected destination. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
Lantronix SLC8000 before firmware v9.7.0.3, EMG8500/EMG7500 before firmware v9.7.0.1, and all firmware versions of SLB882 contain a server-side request forgery vulnerability in the WebSSH/WebTelnet listener that allows unauthenticated attackers to cause the affected device to establish Telnet connections to attacker-controlled endpoints. The custom shellinaboxd uses the rooturl parameter from the web connection to determine its own IP address; by modifying this parameter an attacker redirects the Telnet terminal connection to an arbitrary host or IP. Attackers can use this capability to enumerate or communicate with internal network endpoints that would otherwise be inaccessible.
The advisory is available at revrb.net. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-80150 since 08/25/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 09/22/2026).
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
