Lantronix EMG7500/EMG8500/SLB882/SLC8000 WebSSH/WebTelnet Listener rooturl server-side request forgery

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Lantronix EMG7500, EMG8500, SLB882 and SLC8000 (version unknown). It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown function of the component WebSSH/WebTelnet Listener. The manipulation of the argument rooturl with an unknown input leads to a server-side request forgery vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-918. The web server receives a URL or similar request from an upstream component and retrieves the contents of this URL, but it does not sufficiently ensure that the request is being sent to the expected destination. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:

Lantronix SLC8000 before firmware v9.7.0.3, EMG8500/EMG7500 before firmware v9.7.0.1, and all firmware versions of SLB882 contain a server-side request forgery vulnerability in the WebSSH/WebTelnet listener that allows unauthenticated attackers to cause the affected device to establish SSH connections to attacker-controlled endpoints. The custom shellinaboxd uses the rooturl parameter from the web connection to determine its own IP address; by modifying this parameter an attacker redirects the SSH terminal connection to an arbitrary host or IP. Attackers can use this capability to enumerate or communicate with internal network endpoints that would otherwise be inaccessible.

It is possible to read the advisory at revrb.net. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-80149 since 08/25/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely.
