CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.110/6.18.52/7.2.6/7.3-rc1. Affected is the function alb_determine_nd of the component bonding alb. The manipulation of the argument bond with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-125. The product reads data past the end, or before the beginning, of the intended buffer. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bonding: alb: fix uninitialized transport header access in alb_determine_nd() alb_determine_nd() uses icmp6_hdr(skb) to inspect ICMPv6 headers. However, in xmit paths (e.g. packets sent via AF_PACKET / raw sockets or forwarded packets), skb->transport_header is not guaranteed to be initialized. While pskb_network_may_pull() ensures the packet data is linear starting from the network header, it does not set or adjust the transport header offset. Dereferencing icmp6_hdr(skb) can therefore access out-of-bounds memory. Fetch the icmp6hdr directly after ipv6hdr following pskb_network_may_pull(), and reload ipv6hdr in case pskb_may_pull() reallocated skb->head. Also remove the unused bond argument from alb_determine_nd().

The advisory is shared for download at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-98089 since 09/25/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $0-$5k (estimation calculated on 09/25/2026).

Upgrading to version 6.12.111, 6.18.53, 7.2.7 or 7.3-rc2 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch e39cf90bd856443542b97933289749fca07476bf/27314f96d29b54e815e7a9b84c3273f1895e68e2/3b178894931a268c09126a5b53630f343e10e296/70f3995830d3f1e79faa14eb0605914f778feca9 is able to eliminate this problem. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
