Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in OpenClaw up to 2026.7.0. Affected is the function node.invoke. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
OpenClaw (npm package 'openclaw') before 2026.7.1 does not enforce the administrator scope requirement on browser control when it is reached through the node.invoke method, although direct browser.request access requires administrator scope. In Gateway deployments that honor caller identity and narrower operator scopes, a write-scoped caller with access to a connected browser-capable node can inspect pages, navigate tabs, or interact with browser-visible applications without the configured admin requirement; practical impact depends on the browser profile and signed-in state. Shared-secret token and password callers are considered fully trusted operators under OpenClaw's security model and are not affected. The issue is fixed in 2026.7.1.
The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-100588 since 09/26/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.
Upgrading to version 2026.7.1 eliminates this vulnerability.
