Details
A vulnerability was found in Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Hardened Images 8/9/10. It has been classified as problematic. This affects an unknown part of the component Mailto Notifier. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a argument injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-88. The product constructs a string for a command to be executed by a separate component
in another control sphere, but it does not properly delimit the
intended arguments, options, or switches within that command string. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:
An argument injection flaw was found in CUPS. When email notification is configured, the CUPS scheduler accepts printer subscription requests that supply a mailto notify-recipient-uri. The mailto notifier passes the recipient address to the configured sendmail program without ensuring it cannot be interpreted as command-line options. A remote attacker who can reach the CUPS service could supply a crafted recipient value starting with "-" to influence sendmail behavior. Successful exploitation depends on the installed mail transfer agent and CUPS network exposure, and may lead to execution of attacker-controlled commands with the privileges of the CUPS service user.
The advisory is shared at access.redhat.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-105326 since 10/05/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 10/05/2026). MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059 for this issue.
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
