CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, was found in Linux Kernel up to 7.3-rc3. Affected is the function ovs_ct_get_conn_labels of the component openvswitch. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a use after free vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-416. Referencing memory after it has been freed can cause a program to crash, use unexpected values, or execute code. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: openvswitch: avoid reallocating confirmed conntrack labels ovs_ct_get_conn_labels() adds the labels extension when a conntrack entry does not have one. Confirmed conntracks can be read locklessly, so adding an extension may reallocate and free the extension block while another CPU accesses it. Only add the extension for unconfirmed conntracks. A confirmed conntrack without labels now fails the caller's label operation instead of reallocating its extension storage.

The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-98251 since 09/25/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 10/06/2026).

Upgrading to version 5.10.271, 5.15.222, 6.1.189, 6.6.158, 6.12.112, 6.18.54, 7.2.8 or 7.3-rc4 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 4371d79ea74407fb992c985b1f94391e35bb8289/7ff688aceada1160331a789385ea146f62fbddf7/05eab8dced6bf4d3009a6eeee16ddac99047dc83/579d87ec1e1e85729a6cb2c25961e58beb78640c/2e6dd889c325abf23821e1459c3ffef59b7f0009/d16f089bd700f45d720ce989d5495e1dc3be0cf8/8c9fcc6c33950d3db551af664d1fd3d998bfee56/3f118c8217c109fd13ca61caa301d72c483897ef is able to eliminate this problem. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
