Details
A vulnerability was found in Grid Protection Alliance openPDC and openHistorian (the affected version is unknown). It has been declared as very critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown code of the component Service Console Interface. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a deserialization vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-502. The product deserializes untrusted data without sufficiently verifying that the resulting data will be valid. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
A service console interface on openPDC and openHistorian deserializes a client-supplied data structure. On systems using Windows Authentication, an attacker must already be authenticated to reach this function; on systems without Windows Authentication, this is reachable by an unauthenticated network attacker. This allows an attacker to trigger deserialization of an arbitrary object graph, which could allow remote code execution under the privileges of the affected service account.
The advisory is shared for download at cisa.gov. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-100730 since 10/05/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely.
