A vulnerability was found in My Gallery 2.3 on e107 (Photo Gallery Software). It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the file dload.php. The manipulation of the argument file with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Absolute path traversal vulnerability in dload.php in the my_gallery 2.3 plugin for e107 allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information via a full pathname in the file parameter. NOTE: some of these details are obtained from third party information.
The weakness was released 04/08/2008 by Jerome Athias (Website). The advisory is shared for download at xforce.iss.net. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2008-1702. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known.
