Details
A vulnerability was found in OW2 ASM up to 9.10. It has been classified as problematic. This affects the function Analyzer.analyze of the component Class File Analysis. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a resource consumption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-400. The product does not properly control the allocation and maintenance of a limited resource, thereby enabling an actor to influence the amount of resources consumed, eventually leading to the exhaustion of available resources. This is going to have an impact on availability. The summary by CVE is:
OW2 ASM 1.4.3 before 9.11 contains an excessive resource consumption vulnerability in Analyzer.analyze() that allows attackers to exhaust memory and CPU via crafted class files. Attackers can supply class files analysed through BasicVerifier, SimpleVerifier or SourceInterpreter to trigger unbounded per-instruction Frame allocation and fix point iterations, causing denial of service.
The advisory is shared at gitlab.ow2.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-110591 since 10/14/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1499 for this issue.
Upgrading to version 9.11 eliminates this vulnerability.
