Details
A vulnerability was found in HP OpenView Network Node Manager 7.53 (Network Management Software). It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code block of the file openview5.exe of the component Node Manager. The manipulation of the argument Action with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:
Directory traversal vulnerability in OpenView5.exe in HP OpenView Network Node Manager (OV NNM) 7.01, 7.51, and 7.53 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via directory traversal sequences in the Action parameter.
