Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Eclipse NetX Duo up to 6.5.2.202603. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown code of the component ClientHello parser. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a improper authentication vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-287. When an actor claims to have a given identity, the product does not prove or insufficiently proves that the claim is correct. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

The NetX Secure DTLS server sends a HelloVerifyRequest carrying a freshly generated cookie, but never checks the cookie a client returns. The ClientHello parser copies the client's cookie bytes over the value the server issued, and the server then decides whether the client has been verified from the cookie's length alone. A peer that puts any single cookie byte in its first ClientHello skips the verification exchange entirely, so the server has no return-routability check and completes handshakes for forged source addresses.

It is possible to read the advisory at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-106465 since 10/06/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
