Details
A vulnerability was found in FreeRDP up to 3.31.x. It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is the function winpr_convert_from_jpeg of the component JPEG Conversion. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a heap-based overflow vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-122. A heap overflow condition is a buffer overflow, where the buffer that can be overwritten is allocated in the heap portion of memory, generally meaning that the buffer was allocated using a routine such as malloc(). As an impact it is known to affect integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
FreeRDP 3.3.0 before 3.32.0, when built with WINPR_UTILS_IMAGE_JPEG=ON, has a heap-based out-of-bounds write in winpr_convert_from_jpeg because grayscale JPEG buffers are sized from one input component rather than three BGR output components. A malicious RDP server can offer a grayscale JPEG via clipboard redirection, corrupting client memory and crashing it when the item is pasted as CF_DIB bitmap data.
