A vulnerability was found in Google Chrome 7.x (Web Browser). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown code of the component Flash Player. Adobe Flash Player before 9.0.289.0 and 10.x before 10.1.102.64 on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and Solaris and 10.1.95.1 on Android, and authplay.dll (aka AuthPlayLib.bundle or libauthplay.so.0.0.0) in Adobe Reader and Acrobat 9.x through 9.4, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (memory corruption and application crash) via crafted SWF content, as exploited in the wild in October 2010.
The weakness was released 10/28/2010 with Google (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at googlechromereleases.blogspot.com. The vendor was not involved in the public release. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2010-3654 since 09/28/2010. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 75420 (openSUSE Security Update : acroread (openSUSE-SU-2010:1030-1)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family SuSE Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 118667 (Adobe Flash Player Unspecified Code Execution Vulnerability (APSB10-26)).
Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at chrome.google.com. Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at googlechromereleases.blogspot.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 10637.
