CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.112/6.18.55/7.2.9/7.3-rc5 and classified as very critical. This vulnerability affects the function sdw_stream_add_slave of the file max98363.c of the component max98363 Codec Driver. The manipulation of the argument type with an unknown input leads to a missing initialization vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-456. The product does not initialize critical variables, which causes the execution environment to use unexpected values. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ASoC: codecs: max98363: fix uninitialized stream_config->type stream_config is not initialized before being passed to sdw_stream_add_slave(). The type field may contain garbage and is later copied to stream->type by sdw_config_stream(). Zero-initialize stream_config so type defaults to SDW_STREAM_PCM.

The advisory is shared for download at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-98744 since 09/25/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $5k-$25k (estimation calculated on 10/18/2026).

Upgrading to version 6.12.113, 6.18.56, 7.2.10 or 7.3-rc6 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 1c251426bb67de5cbfd3b5550bd5983736e8b9c7/7df8c39a50f364c04d68881e61ba1ecad29d4b72/f44ba04c7a32bd13dbdcd814385b8629d0ee95e3/bcd61aa247c28b721ac21dda6e4135f75a2de29f is able to eliminate this problem.
