CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 7.3-rc4 and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function nvkm_clk_ustate_update of the file drm/nouveau/clk of the component nouveau. The manipulation of the argument pstate with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-125. The product reads data past the end, or before the beginning, of the intended buffer. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/nouveau/clk: fix list cursor use after loop in nvkm_clk_ustate_update If list_for_each_entry() exits without hitting a break then "pstate" is not a valid pstate pointer. Introduce a "found" variable instead. The check is reachable from userspace: nvkm_clk_ustate_update() takes the pstate id straight from the 'pstate' debugfs file, so requesting an id that is not in clk->states - or any id at all when the perf tables are broken and the list is empty - makes the pstate->pstate != req test dereference the list head cast to a struct nvkm_pstate, which is an out-of-bounds read. [Francesco: rebased on drm-misc-next, expanded the commit message]

The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-98623 since 09/25/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.

Upgrading to version 5.10.271, 5.15.222, 6.1.189, 6.6.158, 6.12.112, 6.18.55, 7.2.9 or 7.3-rc5 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch db5dd9f47b4df1be322f498d846e9a82940a7390/9d550924961f61a491dd95359c63494fa8a23d9f/492e9cfa12f35f7946ea1b78a19f1f9337d62248/a867abcfa85ab487066c3d3008a1ba905da04113/5315c7bacfe274ddfe649d9556e9a341ffa812da/0d096a7f7d79207490858dde731b16da5337e90c/391517da7fd54ae40e4a7fe1cc696217343b0061/aff09d9e37e02dc60bde79035ac15b136d602259 is able to eliminate this problem. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
