Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in python-pillow Pillow up to 12.x. This affects the function EpsImagePlugin.Ghostscript of the file EpsImagePlugin.py of the component EPS Ghostscript Integration. The manipulation of the argument filename with an unknown input leads to a argument injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-88. The product constructs a string for a command to be executed by a separate component
in another control sphere, but it does not properly delimit the
intended arguments, options, or switches within that command string. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Pillow is a Python imaging library. From 2.6.0 until 13.0.0, Pillow is vulnerable to argument injection when invoking Ghostscript for EPS input. EpsImagePlugin.Ghostscript passes a caller-controlled input filename after -f without converting it to a safe absolute path, so a name beginning with a hyphen can be interpreted as a Ghostscript option. An attacker who controls the filename can inject Ghostscript arguments. Arbitrary command execution specifically requires a leading @ argument-file filename and control of the referenced text file containing additional Ghostscript arguments; the reported chain reproduces with the default -dSAFER invocation. This issue is fixed in version 13.0.0.
The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-112900 since 10/19/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059 for this issue.
