Details
A vulnerability was found in curl up to 8.22.0 and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is an unknown function of the component Cookie Jar Parsing. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a improper validation of specified quantity in input vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-1284. The product receives input that is expected to specify a quantity (such as size or length), but it does not validate or incorrectly validates that the quantity has the required properties. Impacted is integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
When writing a long cookie name and value to a Netscape cookie jar, a remote HTTP server can make `curl` write a record that exceeds its line-length parsing limit. Consequently, any subsequent `curl` invocation reading from that same cookie jar using `--cookie` silently aborts parsing prematurely upon encountering the too long line, ignoring all subsequent valid cookies in the file.
The advisory is shared for download at curl.se. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-92386 since 09/16/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely.
