A vulnerability was found in Apple Mac OS X up to 10.5.0 (Operating System). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown function of the component ImageIO. Integer overflow in ImageIO in Apple Mac OS X before 10.5.3 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (application crash) via a crafted JPEG2000 image that triggers a heap-based buffer overflow.
The bug was discovered 05/28/2008. The weakness was published 06/02/2008 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at us-cert.gov. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2008-1574 since 03/31/2008.
