The Web UI interface in (1) BitTorrent before 6.0.3 build 8642 and (2) uTorrent before 1.8beta build 10524 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via an HTTP request with a malformed Range header.

The weakness was disclosed 06/16/2008 by Dyon Balding with Secunia Research (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2008-0071 since 01/03/2008. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.

It is declared as proof-of-concept.

Upgrading to version 1.1.1 eliminates this vulnerability.
