Details
A vulnerability has been found in koxudaxi fastapi-code-generator up to 0.8.0 and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown functionality of the component Code Generator. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-74. The product constructs all or part of a command, data structure, or record using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify how it is parsed or interpreted when it is sent to a downstream component. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
fastapi-code-generator creates FastAPI applications from OpenAPI files. Prior to 0.8.1, the generator inserts an OpenAPI path into a generated @app.get(...) route decorator as a single-quoted generated route string without escaping embedded quotes. An attacker-controlled or attacker-influenced OpenAPI path can close the string and inject a valid Python expression into the decorator argument. Syntax-breaking input only causes generation to fail, but syntactically valid generated code executes with the application's or CI process's privileges when the generated module is imported and the decorator is evaluated. This OpenAPI path sink is distinct from the project's separate operation-summary docstring and additional-response-key sinks. This issue is fixed in version 0.8.1.
The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-63471 since 07/16/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1055 for this issue.
Upgrading to version 0.8.1 eliminates this vulnerability.
