Kubeflow Pipelines up to 2.17.x Webhook information disclosure

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Kubeflow Pipelines up to 2.17.x. It has been classified as problematic. This affects an unknown functionality of the component Webhook. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a information disclosure vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-200. The product exposes sensitive information to an actor that is not explicitly authorized to have access to that information. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:

Kubeflow Pipelines enables users to build and deploy portable, scalable machine learning workflows. Prior to 2.18.0, the legacy V1/raw-Argo execution cache mutating webhook and cache-server storage path hash selected template fields without the Kubernetes namespace, use the key alone for lookups and duplicate checks, and trust the mutable pipelines.kubeflow.org/execution_cache_key annotation when publishing outputs. In multi-user deployments where tenant namespaces share the cache service, a tenant with workload-submission privileges can read another namespace's cached outputs or seed matching outputs that are substituted into a later step. Standard KFP V2 component pods bypass this cache, matching requires the selected template fields and staleness policy, and arbitrary code execution or service availability impact is not established. This issue is fixed in version 2.18.0.

It is possible to read the advisory at github.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-88982 since 09/10/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1592 according to MITRE ATT&CK.

Upgrading to version 2.18.0 eliminates this vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the vulnerability database at EUVD (EUVD-2026-117831). Statistical analysis made it clear that VulDB provides the best quality for vulnerability data.
