Apple Safari allows web sites to set cookies for country-specific top-level domains, such as co.uk and com.au, which could allow remote attackers to perform a session fixation attack and hijack a user s HTTP session, aka "Cross-Site Cooking," a related issue to CVE-2004-0746, CVE-2004-0866, and CVE-2004-0867.

The bug was discovered 07/12/2008. The weakness was disclosed 07/14/2008 by Alex (Website). The advisory is available at us-cert.gov. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2008-3170 since 07/14/2008. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 2 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k.
