The ASP.NET Chart controls in Microsoft .NET Framework 4, and Chart Control for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, do not properly verify functions in URIs, which allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via special characters in a URI in an HTTP request, aka "Chart Control Information Disclosure Vulnerability."

The weakness was disclosed 08/09/2011 by Nico Leidecker and James Forshaw with Context Information Security (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is shared at archives.neohapsis.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2011-1977 since 05/09/2011. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
