Multiple buffer overflows in the QIP Server Service (aka qipsrvr.exe) in LANDesk Management Suite, Security Suite, and Server Manager 8.8 and earlier allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted heal request, related to the StringToMap and StringSize arguments.

The bug was discovered 09/12/2008. The weakness was disclosed 09/18/2008 by Aaron Portnoy as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared for download at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2008-2468 since 05/28/2008. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
